Wedding Mint-spirations!

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Pastel colours, especially "mint green" (also known as pastel green), were a huge trend last year. Mint green itself can be the wedding theme colour alone or can be complemented by other pastel colours (coral, pastel purple) or strong bold colours (gold, brown).

The colour is perfect for spring and summer weddings because of its beautiful symbolic aura. The colour green and its different shades represent growth and freshness, and most of all, something that leads to change.

Here are some "mint-spirational" collages and ideas that I have created for your mint wedding!

1. Venue - You can have your ceremony or reception at a mint coloured venue! It may be hard to find one in your are or the venue you found does not host weddings. In that case you can simply choose a green park or garden for your ceremony, cocktail hours, reception and even for your photo session.

2. Cake - Not only you can choose a cake in mint green colour, but you can also incorporate the mint flavour into the cake itself. When it comes to selecting the colour of the cake, you can choose different shades of green for each layer or have the cake all covered in mint green. If you want a simple cake and elegant white cake, add cake decorations in mint green and also incorporate other pastel colours. Mini cakes are a big trend these days. Serve each guests with mini wedding cakes and you can have different flavour options if you love more than one flavour.

3. Bridal Dress - There are two ways to wear mint green on your wedding day. You can wear a mint green dress during your ceremony with mint green trims, gems, jewelries, shoes and hair accessories. The other option is to change from the traditional white dress after your ceremony into a mint green gown or cocktail dress for the reception. Make sure to choose a style and length that flatters your body shape and also a dress that is comfortable to walk around and dance all night long!

4. Groom's Attire - For a traditional look, wear a mint green tie, lining, pocket square, dress shirt or vest to accentuate the classic black tuxedo or suit. If you want something different, wear a mint green suit or tuxedo. The colour is light, cool and refreshing so it's perfect for an outdoor summer wedding. A neutral colour (cream, beige, grey, brown) suit goes great with mint green accessories (tie, bow tie, pocket square) for a vintage themed wedding.

5. Bridesmaids - All of the bridesmaids can wear mint green, different shades of green or a combination of mint green and a different colour. The bridesmaids can wear neutral colour dresses with mint green shoes and accessories. Choose a style and length that flatters different body shapes or choose different styles for each bridesmaid. Select a light and comfortable material for an outdoor summer wedding.

6. Groomsmen - Traditional black suits and tuxedos are classic, but if you want your groomsmen to look different, include the wedding colour to the attire.  You can go all out with mint green suits and tuxedos or just add a mint green touch with the dress shirts, vests, socks, shoes, ties and accessories.

7. Flowers - There aren't many choices when it comes to mint green flowers, but that shouldn't stop you form holding a mint green bouquet on your wedding day. Succulents are the most popular mint green flower choice. They come in mint and also in different shades of green. Succulents are beautiful and will definitely make a statement. The benefits of choosing succulents for your mint green wedding are that they are available all year around and eco-friendly. You can include mint green on the stem wrap or non floral accessories (jewels, feathers).

8. Decor - One and the most important areas where you can incorporate your favourite colour (mint green) into your wedding is decor. You can go as creative as you want and there are so many ways to use mint green colour on your wedding day whether as a dominant colour or a touch here and there. You can choose mint green linens, chair covers, table runners, sashes, napkins, backdrops and and centre pieces. Combine shades of green or add a splash of different colour (gold, white, coral and pastel colours). Choosing different types of materials and textures to make accentuate the colour too. Also add decorative pieces and different sources of lights in mint green.

9. Transportation - Mint green vehicles are not common. There are some classic mint green vehicles that you can use on your wedding day whether it is used as a transportation, grand entrance or decoration. If you can not find a mint green vehicle, you can DIY by painting them or decorating them with mint green flowers and items.

10. Desserts - Mint chocolate is one of the popular variety of flavoured chocolate and lots of people love having it for dessert. Some of the delicious mint flavoured desserts are mint chocolate chip cookies, brownies, ice cream, cake pops, cupcakes and macaroons. Food colouring is also perfect way to turn your favourite dessert to mint green colour. Decorate your desserts with mint green coloured accessories and supplies such as sticks, ribbons, plates, wrappers, papers, edible decorations e.t.c. Here are some mint desserts:

11. Drinks - Mint herb is used commonly with tea and cocktails. Mint drinks are refreshing and perfect for summer. Serve your guests with mint flavoured signature drinks during the reception and cocktail hour. Guests will love the cooling of mint after the long hours on the dance floor. Play with food colouring and turn any drink to mint green colour too. Great ways to add mint green hints to drinks are using accessories and decorations like straws, umbrellas and cups.

Hi! I love the collage! My friend is getting married and asked us bridesmaids to wear nude pumps. I was wondering if you would be able to tell me the brand and/or style of the nude colored pumps with the mint sole or hopefully where to get them. I've been searching, but haven't been able to find them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again great job with theme!! :)

    1. Good day dear reader,

It has been a life change for quite a while and sadly I have left my blog for quite a long time that I am replying to you now and late, but hopefully the wedding is still coming up.

Betsey Johnson has mint and turquoise sole high heels. It even has heart shape at the bottom.. very pretty!

Good luck and have fun! :)
